UNYP MissionEducating Tomorrow’s Leaders The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) was established in April 1998 by New York College and its asscociates, in a continuing effort to provide quality university education in the region, and with the cooperation of the State University of New York, Empire State College. Through this cooperation, UNYP is able to offer students the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized American Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York, Empire State College. This undergraduate program is based on the American style of university education and all classes are taught in English. UNYP is recognised by the Czech Ministry of Education, and as such can award European Degrees in Business Administration. The American Degree program majors in Business Administration, International Economic Relations or Media and Communications, are also accredited by the Czech Ministry, and students on these programs may choose to sit the Czech State Exams, and thus qualify for a dual degree, both European and American degrees. UNYP has received the support of the public universities in Prague and continues to maintain a close relationship with Charles University, the University of Economics in Prague and the Czech Technical University in Prague. Many of UNYP's instructors are also members of the teaching faculties at these universities. UNYP also works closely with large multinational firms located in Prague establishing internships that will give students the opportunity to apply their skill in a work setting. In a few short years UNYP has gained a reputation for offering high quality educational programs by providing a strong foundation in the liberal arts and professional majors with a cross-cultural and international perspective. UNYP is proud of its accomplishments and its ability to blend the rich academic history of the Czech Republic with American and European higher education. The mission of the University of New York in Prague is to offer students the opportunity to obtain a university degree at the Bachelor's or Master's level in a variety of academic and professional specializations; to provide them with the knowledge, skills, openness, and confidence to succeed in a diverse and international work environment; and to prepare them for life as contributing, productive, and humane citizens of the world community. The faculty and staff of the University of New York in Prague are dedicated to the spirit of learning and the development of a community of learners in which active participation, inquiry, and freedom of expression are encouraged and supported.
